Abstract

Thermodynamic analysis was employed to evaluate an MBHE (moving bed heat exchanger) for heat recovery from BFS (blast furnace slag). The study conducted experimental investigations to assess the influence of several factors on heat transfer, exergy transfer, and exergy destruction, including the granular side Peclet number, waterside Reynolds number, arrangement, tube spacing, and tube shape. Structural parameters of the MBHE were optimized based on the heat transfer enhancement number, resulting in the determination of the optimal parameters: staggered arrangement, Dh/D=2, Dv/D=3, and elliptical tubes.
