Abstract

3D joint motion characteristics of the trunk, shoulder and elbow joints including the forearm. Angular velocities were produced for each percentage of the gait cycle for each joint. Positive angular velocities were consistent when the joints were flexing, adducting or externally rotating. Negative velocities were consistent with extension, abduction or internal rotation. Using this sign convention, the presence or otherwise of D1 and D2 could be identified during walking.
