Abstract
The article presents a response to the article “Working in a Vietnamese Voice,” by Lady Barton. The author discusses some aspects of Vietnamese culture and society that make it appear an ideal business environment in either for profit or not-for-profit enterprises. He describes several instances in hi past in which he committed various cultural faux pas, including a specific event he relates in detail. The author concludes by stressing the importance of understanding the cultural norms and values of countries in which one is operating.
