Abstract

Hard exclusive meson production in deep inelastic lepton scattering provides access to the unknown Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) in the nucleon. GPDs parameterize the nucleon structure and provide a unified description of exclusive/inclusive reactions. This paper reports on the measurement of hard exclusive IF+ and light vector meson production on an internal hydrogen gas target at HERMES using the 27.6 GeV HERA positron beam. First preliminary results for the total exclusive IT+ production cross section are presented and compared with GPD calculations. Spin density matrix elements have been determined for exclusive po and $ productions, and the longitudinal component of the total cross section has also been compared to GPD calculations.
