Abstract

Spectra and time characteristics of free-exciton luminescence in ZnTe at 77 K have been studied under excitation with photon energies around the longitudinal exciton energy E L. It has been found that both the emission and the excitation spectra show a dip around E L, and the luminescence decay time depends on both the emission and the excitation energies. These results are interpreted with a model that takes into account the reabsorption of exciton luminescence together with diffusion and surface recombination of excitons.
