Abstract
Experimental X-ray emission spectra for the metal and oxygen in Na 3VO 4, K 2CrO 4, V 2O 5 and YVO 4 are considered together with the results of MS-Xα and MO-LCAO cluster calculations. A new interpretation of the short-wave sub-bands in transition-metal Lα emission spectra of the compounds is given which connects their existence with excited states.
