Abstract

We present a method that incorporates solutions of a broad class of quark models into the coupled-channel formalism for the K matrix. The method is applied to the calculation of the P11 and P33 scattering amplitudes in the region of the N(1440) and Δ(1600) resonances. Solving the Lippmann-Schwinger equation for the K matrix we find a strong enhancement of the bare quark-model meson-baryon coupling constants consistent with the values used in effective Lagrangian approaches.
