Abstract

A phosphor with the designed composition 1.99SrO2-1.0MgO-1.6SiO2-0.01Eu2O3 was prepared via a solid state reaction in a reducing atmosphere (90%N2/10%H2). The crystal structure of the phosphor was identified by using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The morphology of the phosphor particles was examined by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The optical properties of the emission spectra and the chromaticity coordinates were studied. The emission spectra were found to depend on the excitation wavelengths; thus colors in a wide region could be obtained by combining the prepared phosphor and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with proper emitting wavelengths.
