Abstract

An electron beam propagating through a parallel plate waveguide filled with nanoparticles can excite slow electromagnetic mode. The phase velocity of slow mode is sensitive to the nanoparticle density, plate separation of waveguide and beam velocity. It is found that the phase velocity decreases with larger concentration of nanoparticles and lower separation between the waveguide plates.
