Abstract
Dispersion properties of compact single- and double-side grooves SSPPs are analyzed and compared. The combination of two single-side grooves with opposite phases can sustain the odd-mode SSPPs, which is contrary to the dominantly even mode SSPPs existed on metal-dielectric interfaces in optical frequencies or on structured metal surfaces in the lower frequencies. Two low-pass filters based on odd-mode SSPPs working at 0–7 and 0–14.1 GHz are fabricated and measured. Both simulations and measurements validate that the proposed SSPPs structure can realize high-efficiency excitation of odd-mode SSPPs and low-loss transmission properties.
