Abstract

We have measured the differential cross sections for inelastic scattering of electrons by oxygen nuclei, with excitation of a number of known levels. Spin and parity assignments to these levels are made after examination of the dependence of the inelastic form factors on scattering angle and momentum transfer. For some of the levels for which wave functions have been predicted we find good agreement between calculated and experimental values of both longitudinal and transverse form factors.
