Abstract

In the article the problem of excitation of a rotating cavity formed with two coaxial spheres is formulated and solved. The covariant representation of electromagnetic field equations is used to provide the rigorous solution. The definition of rotating electric and magnetic Debye potentials is used in order to split electromagnetic field into E-field and H-field. Represented in terms of Debye potentials solution is expanded into a series of Markov functions that are spherical functions with weights defined by the parameters of the field sources and the boundary conditions on the boundaries between the walls of the spheres and the filling of the resonator. Analytical solution is used to calculate frequency characteristics of the field inside the resonator allowing analysis of the possibility of rotation rate measurement with resonance method.
