Abstract

The article considers bending oscillations generated in the vertical plane of a horizontal liquid-filled pipe under the impact of a harmonic pressure wave in the liquid in the cases that the ends of the pipe are fixed in two different ways. The investigation is focused on the impact of the initially curved position of the pipe and the excitation frequency on the behaviour of forced and parametric oscillations. The conditions are reveled for the occurrence of nonlinear resonance and also the excitation of upper harmonics/ The oscillations of the system vary from periodic to chaotic depending on the parameters of the problem.
