Abstract

The excitation functions of the (n, p) reactions for 41K and 64Zn and of the (n, 2n) reactions for 55Mn, 63Cu, 65Cu, 64Zn and 66Zn were measured in the energy region 13–18 MeV by the activation method. The experimental results are compared with statistical-theory predictions based on optical-model absorption cross sections and the Fermi gas model nuclear level density formula. Three different proposals to account for the pairing effect in the nuclear level density are compared. The dependence of (n, 2n) cross sections on the neutron excess of the target nucleus is discussed.
