Abstract

We study the effect of two-body exchange currents on the electromagnetic properties of the nucleon, Δ-isobar and the deuteron in the nonrelativistic quark model. In the deuteron we emphasize the short-range modifications of standard exchange currents due to quark exchange currents. In particular, we study the gluon and pion quark exchange currents which are the electromagnetic counterparts of the processes which generate the short-range repulsion in the NN system.
