Abstract

Excess volumes (V E ) of binary mixtures of ethyl acetate with toluene and its o- and p-chloro derivatives have been determined from density measurements from 283.15 to 303.15 K over the entire composition range. Excess volumes are negative for all mixtures at all temperatures. The VE values are close to zero for the ethyl acetate + toluene system. The values decrease in the order toluene, o-chlorotoluene, and p-chlorotoluene. The effect of temperature on the excess volume is (∂V E /∂T) p , being generally negative.
