Abstract

Dilatometric measurements of excess volumes, V E, have been made for 1,4-dioxane + methylene chloride (CH 2Cl 2) and 1,4-dioxane + 1,2-dichloroethane (CH 2ClCH 2Cl) at 293.15 and 303.15 K, for 1,4-dioxane + trichloroethylene (CHClCCl 2) and 1,4-dioxane + tetrachloroethylene (CCl 2CCl 2) at 298.15 and 308.15 K, and for 1,4-dioxane + cyclohexane (c-C 6H 12) at 303.15 K. The values of V E have been found to be positive for 1,4-dioxane + c-C 6H 12, 1,4-dioxane + CCl 2CCl 2 and 1,4-dioxane + CH 2ClCH 2Cl. Some negative values of V E have been found for 1,4-dioxane + CHClCCl 2 and 1,4-dioxane + CH 2Cl 2. The results indicate the possible existence of specific interaction of 1,4-dioxane with CH 2Cl 2, CHClCCl 2, CH 2ClCH 2Cl and CCl 2CCl 2.
