Abstract

Using the method of calculation outlined in the previous paper, values of the excess properties of some simple mixtures have been calculated from the Lennard–Jones potential and the Barker–Henderson theory, using the macroscopic approximation for the second order terms. These results are shown to be in excellent agreement with Monte Carlo values for the excess Properties of selected binary mixtures. Comparisons with experimental data also showed excellent agreement provided the cross term interactions are adjusted for departures from the geometric mean.
