Abstract

Experimental vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) data using a dynamic apparatus and densities at atmospheric pressure using an Anton Paar DMA-5000 densitometer were measured for the potential biofuel system of propan-2-ol (1) + 2-methyl-propan-1-ol (2) at 333.15, 343.15, and 353.15 K. From these data, the excess properties for volume, Gibbs energy, enthalpy, and entropy were determined. The VLE data were correlated using the γ–Φ approach and non-random two-liquid activity-coefficient models. Thermodynamic consistency testing was conducted, and the VLE data passed the area and point tests. The experimental density data were modeled with an eight-parameter correlation to simultaneously represent composition and temperature. The excess volume was correlated with a Redlich–Kister expansion.
