Abstract

The excess molar volumes V m Efor binary liquid mixtures of { xC 6H 5CH 3+ (1− x)H(CH 2) v (OCH 2CH 2) 3OH} for v= 1, 2, and 4 have been measured using a continuous-dilution dilatometer over the entire mole fraction xrange at T= 298.15 K. The excess volume curves for these three mixtures are sigmoid with a maximum in the toluene-rich region. The measured excess molar volume decreases as the alkyl chain length of the alkoxyethanol increases. The results have been used to estimate the excess partial molar volumes of the components.
