Abstract

Excess molar volumes of some n-alkane solutions: “x C 8H 18 + (1 − x) C 9H 20 ’ , “x C 8H 18 + (1 − x) C 10H 22 ’ , “x C 9H 20 + (1 − x) C 11H 24 ’ , and “x C 9H 20 + (1 − x) C 13H 28 ’ , are reported at 288.15 and 298.15 K. The results are most efficiently described in terms of their deviations from the Brønsted-Koefoed principle of congruence. Polynomial expansions are employed for this purpose. During collection of results particular attention was paid to the region of low mole fraction of the smaller species where positive excess volumes were observed.
