Abstract

Excess molar enthalpies HEm for (ethane + chloromethane) have been measured at the temperatures (298.15, 323.15, 348.15, and 363.15) K and pressures from (5 to 16) MPa with a high-temperature high-pressure flow calorimeter. At low pressures (vapor + liquid) equilibrium occurs, resulting in linear regions in the HEm (x) curves. (Vapor + liquid) equilibria at p = 5 MPa were determined from the calorimetric measurements, and enabled us to construct a (vapor + liquid) equilibrium isobar. A weak dependence of HEm on temperature and pressure was observed at the higher pressures, with HEm results similar to those reported earlier for (propane + chloromethane) and (butane + chloromethane) over a wider range of pressures and temperatures.
