Abstract

AbstractIt was found that 2‐amino‐1,2‐diphenylethanol forms organogels with a wide variety of acidic compounds in a large number of organic liquids, in which short contacts such as CH–π hydrogen bonds play a key role in gel formation. This new kind of acid–base, two‐component organogelator has potential application as a fluorescence switch and in the preparation of organic nanotubes, silver nanofibers, and ultrathin silver nanoparticles of less than 3 nm, which could be used as catalysts for the reduction of nitroaniline.
