Abstract

Imidazoline phenyl thiourea iodized n-butane quaternary ammonium salt (IMSQ) is synthesized from oleic acid, diethylenetriamine, iodinated n-butane, and n-phenylthiourea. The corrosion inhibition performance is studied by electrochemical test. The experimental findings underscored a pronounced positive correlation between the concentration of IMSQ and its corrosion inhibition efficacy on N80 steel. Notably, at a concentration of 0.07 mM, IMSQ attained a corrosion inhibition efficiency of 99.1 %, exhibiting exceptional protective capability for N80 steel in hydrochloric acid environments. By studying the adsorption isotherm equation, it is judged that the type of adsorption includes physical adsorption and chemical adsorption. The characterization analysis results indicate that IMSQ can adsorb on the surface of steel-N80, providing effective protection for the metal.
