Abstract

The method expounded in Chapter 2 for constructing magnetic structures from the basis functions of irreducible representations of the crystal’s space group now will be illustrated by some examples. We consider magnetic structures of orthoferrites, spinels, hexagonal rare-earth metals, and some rhombohedral crystals. The examples selected relate to crystals of various syngonies, namely rhombic, cubic, hexagonal, and rhombohedral, and enable us to consider various situations which may be encountered in the analysis of symmetry.
