Abstract

Examples of the topology of nucleation rate surfaces for systems with monotropic polymorphic transitions constructed using a new concept for the semiempirical design of such surfaces over p-T phase equilibrium diagrams, where p is pressure and T is temperature, are presented. It is shown in these cases that multichannel nucleation corresponding to a set of independent nucleation rate surfaces occurs. Previous attempts to describe such systems in the one-channel approximation of the theory are not valid. We conclude that the obtained topologies of nucleation surfaces can be used as examples that illustrate the generalized rule of the sequence of phases, the first version of which was formulated by Ostwald.
