Abstract
A novel approach to the Abraham-Minkowski dilemma based on a simple thought experiment is presented. The mathematical analysis of the simple thought experiment, which is based on a plane, monochromatic, uniform electromagnetic wave that propagates through the infinite, homogeneous, linear and isotropic dielectric medium without losses and impinges the surface of a perfect mirror, shows that the presented thought experiment goes in favor of the Minkowski form of the photon momentum in medium.
