Abstract

This study examines the sensitivity of the mean cumulative prediction error (CPE) and the Z value for the CPE, two relatively recently developed event study statistics, in a simulation context. It finds the new statistics to be very sensitive to any detectable extra return in the sample securities. The article provides prospective users of these statistics a calibration of the measures.
