Abstract

This article of the Zeitschrift fur Psychodrama und Soziometrie presents a single group designed study with pre-test, post-test and follow-up test. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of psychodrama practices on the hopelessness, insight, and psychological well-being of 12 emerging adults. Participants attended ten psychodrama sessions. The group consisted of 12 young adults (10 females, 2 males) aged between 20 and 24 years. Participants were asked to complete Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS), Insight Scale for Nonclinical University Students (ISNUS), Flourishing Scale (FS), and a demographic form. The procedure involved the use of pre-test, post-test and follow-up test experimental single group design. Wilcoxon signed ranks test analysis was conducted to determine the differences between pre-test, post-test and follow-up test. Results revealed that there were significant differences between pre-test and post-test in terms of hope and between pre-test and follow-up test in terms of loss of motivation, self-understanding and holistic view. No difference was found between post-test and follow-up test. From the results of the study, it can be considered that psychodrama practices increased one aspect of insight while it decreased hopelessness.
