Abstract

AbstractFor students at tribal colleges, online courses provide access to college coursework, particularly for non‐traditional students and students who live in rural communities. In addition, online courses provide unique opportunities for Indigenous students to connect with their tribal communities and to participate in cultural revitalization and language acquisition efforts being led by tribal colleges, regardless of their proximity to a tribal college. This article analyzes descriptive data of two‐year tribal colleges that provide a snapshot of their presence and spending to support online education. We offer policy recommendations to support greater online education opportunities for Indigenous students and to expand Indigenous cultural revitalization and language acquisition through online courses.
