Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine leadership researches published in scientific journals in Turkey with regard to; field of study, methodological properties such as method and sample size, chosen educational grade and subject and adjectives mentioned together with the concept of leadership. Population of the study consisted of 410 research articles indexed in Social and Human Sciences data base of Turkish Academic Network and Information Center (ULAKBİM) since the year of 2002. Criterion sampling method was used to determine sample of the study. Criterion that the concept of leadership appears in title of research together with a concept characterizing itself was research articles actualizing accepted criterion. As a result of the study, it was determined that leadership was examined in the field of education more in comparison to other fields. Quantitative research methods were preferred in majority of leadership researches (76.1 %) and researches using relational screening model represented 51 % of quantitative leadership researches and 38 % of all leadership researches. When evaluating all researches terming transformational leadership in different ways, it was concluded that 27 researches (one quarter of all researches) were about transformational leadership
