Abstract

In this study it is aimed to determine that if there is a meaningful difference between “attitudes towards peace” and “current World problems” of Social studies teacher candidates. There has been 148 women (51,6%) and 158 men (48,4%), totally 306 social studies teacher candidates from Social Science Teaching Department, Education Faculty, Erzincan University. Correlational research method is used in the study. Datas are examined by the use of SPSS 20.0 statistical programme, Mann-Whitney U test and Spearman Brown rank correlation coefficient. As a data collection tool, “the scale of attitudes towards peace” developed by Eryilmaz (2008) and “the scale of attitudes towards current world problems” developed by Kilicoglu, Karakus and Ozturk (2012) are used. At the end of the analysis, a positively meaningful relation has been found between the attitudes towards peace and current World problems of social studies teacher candidates. However there is no meaningful relation between the attitudes towards peace and current World problems of Social studies teacher candidates in terms of gender.
