Abstract

An MR blood collection learning support system has been developed to improve the simulator used by nursing students for blood collection training. In the system, a syringe reproduced by 3D‐CG is presented via HMD as a model. The model syringe reproduces the blood collection behavior of a teacher, and the learner can engage in blood collection training by imitating the movement of the syringe model. However, the learner may misinterpret the position of the CG presentation and place the syringe far from the blood vessel. Thus, we devised a method for presenting the misalignment of the needle tip relative to the blood vessel to support the correction of the syringe position and conducted an evaluation experiment. The experimental results showed that the approach of the needle tip to the blood vessel was improved significantly by presenting two arrows indicating the direction of the blood vessel to the needle tip. © 2023 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
