Abstract

Steady-State multiplicity and uniqueness criteria are derived for a rather general lu ped model of chemically reacting systems for which reaction-rate expressions are of the form Kc p e -E a/R gT / (1 + lc) a. Application of the criteria involves relatively simple calculations and leads to an exact description of the steady-state pattern in parameter space. The general results are summarized in the form of computational flow charts and employed in a study of the particular case of a bimolecular reaction of the Langmuir-Hinshelwood type. In certain situations with q > p, there esist five steady-states for exothermic reactions and three for endothermic or isothermal reactions.
