Abstract

We introduce nonlinear canonical transformations that yieldeffective, solvable Hamiltonians of multiphoton down-conversionprocesses, and we define the associated non-Gaussianmultiphoton squeezed states as the coherent states of themultiphoton Hamiltonians. We study in detail the four-photonprocesses and the associated non-Gaussian four-photon squeezedstates. The realization of squeezing, the behaviour of the fieldstatistics, and the structure of the phase space distributions show that these states realize a natural four-photongeneralization of the two-photon squeezed states.
