Abstract

For a toroidal plasma rotating about its axis of symmetry, the ideal MHD equations can be reduced to an equation which generalizes the static equilibrium equation if either the entropy or the temperature is constant on the magnetic surfaces. For both of these cases, exact analytic solutions are obtained and their properties are discussed.
