Abstract

Two kinds of piezoelectric hollow cylinder actuator are studied in this paper.One is the expansion actuator and the other is the contraction actuator. Usingthe Airy stress function method, the analytical solutions of these two kinds ofactuators are obtained based on the theory of piezo-elasticity. The solutions arecompared with numerical results and good agreement is found. Inherent properties ofthese two kinds of piezoelectric cylinder actuator are presented and discussed.Findings have applications in the field of micromechanics and microengineering.
