Abstract
• Two population samples were assessed for psychotic symptoms with the prodromal questionnaire (PQ) in two different time-points, 2016 and 2020. • The COVID-2019 pandemic increased the scoring of psychotic symptoms between 2016 and 2020;. • All socioeconomic classes showed a statistically significant increase in PQ scores, except for the high-income stratum. • the less the income the higher the score in the PQ—individuals in the lowest income stratum scoring the highest. • there is a need to focus on mental healthcare of socioeconomically disadvantaged individuals, for they might have been hit harder by the pandemic.
