Abstract

This study accurately runs through all the editions and translations of Ossian's poems and Scott's "Lady of the Lake" consulted by Nodier in order to prepare his travel to Scotland. We have identified the very copy of Chapman's guidebook used by Nodier on this trip. Thanks to this guidebook, Nodier modifies his travel plans and reorganizes the story of his expedition in the form of new quest for the Holy Grail: the Highlands and Ben Lomond become the subject of this quest. An unpublished letter of Nodier to Pr Hooker can be found as attached document.
