Abstract

Evonik Industries will close a plant in Kaba, Hungary, that produces the amino acid l-threonine by the end of this month. About 120 people work at the facility. l-Threonine is used as a nutritional additive in animal feed. Evonik blames the closure on intense competition. The firm is now in discussions with Hungarian authorities to determine how the site might be reused.
