Abstract

The Global Network Architecture (GNA) and the idea of the Global Network (GN) have evolved during the last year. The GNA group met face-to-face in Utrecht, Netherlands on June 12-13, 2014. Much progress was made on refining what the GNA and the GN actually mean and on ideas for expanding the input to the GNA group. The GN is now seen much less as a new physical network and much more as a collaborative federation of existing networks, each of whom contributes to and participates in the operation of the GN. The GNA is a framework or set of rules that organizations agree to follow to participate in the GN.
