Abstract
The objectives of this session are as follows: 1) to gain knowledge about the juvenile justice system and violent juvenile offenders; 2) to review the neurodevelopmental literature and the influence on recent landmark case law and legislative trends in juvenile sentencing and transfer to criminal court; 3) to understand the role of risk assessment and evaluating treatment amenability in juvenile offenders; 4) to learn an overview on risk assessment instruments specific to juvenile offenders; and 5) to work through unique cases involving juvenile homicide offenders to increase proficiency in using evidence-based risk assessment instruments.
