Abstract

Today, the world is seeing the fourth industrial revolution. Today, the globe is seeing the fourth commercial revolution. Internet of Things (IoT) and software-defined network (SON) are emerging technologies that have the potential to have a huge influence on the cyber world. It enables the accumulation and exchange of information and its processing on a genuine-time substratum. However, a multitude of equipment and contrivances need to be connected and accessed through a limber and adaptable network for efficiently programming and managing them. While integrating different equipment and heterogeneous IoT contrivances, traditional networks may not perform optimally due to a lack of interoperability arising from unlike communication protocols and diversity in languages and data formats and policies. As a result, manual interventions for configuring the network are to be reported. In this regard, SDN gives a promising and possible paradigm for dealing with community control. It decouples the control plane and data plane with the avail of forwarding devices. It uses application programming interfaces (APIs) to communicate with physical infrastructure and guide visitors around this cyber technological environment. SDN can offer answers to the above demanding situations with its centralized manipulation and versatility for ameliorating the control efficacy of IoT architectures. This work elaborates on evolving requisites and application of SDN and IoT architectures for addressing these aspects by including Industry 4.0, AI, and Blockchain, and discussing the future research directions and usability impact.
