Abstract

Evolving factor analysis has been applied to spectrophotometric titration of Ni(II) by glycinate ion. Data arrays of absorbances of thirty-five solutions at thirty-five wavelengths were used. Principal component analysis of these data support the accepted four-factor chemical model. Within this model the spectra of nickel(II) and three glycinate complexes were resolved. The concentrations of these species along with pH-metric glycinate ion concentrations allowed calculation of formation constants for three complexes.
