Abstract

Glossopteridales is a characteristic plant group of the Late Palaeozoic flora of Southern Hemisphere and represent different types of leaf genera. Critical assessment of venation pattern in different leaves demonstrates a gradual transition from midribless forms to midrib forms. Midribless forms are common in Lower Permian flora whereas midrib forms are well developed in Upper Permian flora. Venation pattern vis-à-vis distribution signifies an evolutionary tendency in various forms of Glossopteridales.
