Abstract

An algorithmic-evolutionary approach for the synthesis of heat exchanger networks is proposed. This approach is based on searching and breaking all heat load loops in the initial network. The method can effectively minimize the number of heat transfer units in an existing network without increasing its utility consumption above the minimum thermodynamic requirement.
