Abstract

In this work, we use renormalization group (RG) arguments on the 1D electron-phonon problem with interchain single-particle hopping to analyze the recent nuclear relaxation data of (TMTTF) 2PF 6 at 1 bar and 13 kbar. We generate a general phase diagram as a function of pressure. This diagram agrees with X-ray, NMR, and EPR evidence. The observed spin-Peierls to antiferromagnetic crossover will be explained in the light of the balance between correlations in the 1D electron-phonon system and the kinetic interchain couplings generated by the RG. The same analysis should also apply to the similar compounds (TMTTF) 2AsF 6 and (TMTTF) 2Br.
