Abstract

We show that the anisotropy of the photon excited Ar 2${\mathit{p}}_{3/2}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$ns resonant Auger spectrum evolves smoothly into the anisotropy of the corresponding normal ${\mathit{L}}_{3}$MM Auger spectrum as the excitation energy is tuned across the ${\mathit{L}}_{3}$ ionization threshold. Our results show that the difference between the angular anisotropy parameters ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\alpha}}}_{2}$ of the resonant and normal Auger transitions becomes smaller than 10% around n\ensuremath{\gtrsim}14.
