Abstract

The paper discusses the mineral composition of metapelitic granulites. Two phases of Mesoproterozoic metamorphism are suggested from mineral thermobarometry, isochemical phase diagram modeling, and geochronology. It is shown that the early metamorphism was ultra-high temperature (UHT) grade and associated with collisional tectonics during the Rodinia supercontinent amalgamation. The later metamorphism was amphibolite-facies and taken place in a post-collisional extensional tectonic regime.
