Abstract

This article is based on the results of a research project called,,Logistics and Electronic Commerce (LogEC) We propose a potential development path of electronic markets in the transportation and logistics sector. Based on the experiences in the transportation sector, critical success factors for the establishment of electronic logistics markets are identified. In this context a common framework will be discussed, which gives a general overview of relevant issues of electronic markets and which will be able to guide the necessary integration and alignment processes during the establishment of a wholly electronic logistics market. In the final stage of the proposed model a wide selection of electronic market services, customized views, as well as automated, real-time market transactions should he provided. On the point of view of an initiator of an electronic markt critical acceptance factors are described. Finally, the main ideas are summarized and an outlook based on remaining research questions is given.
